چکیده
While Nalimov’s endgame tables for Western Chess are the most used today, their Depth-to-Mate metric is not the most efficient or effective in use. The authors have developed and used new programs to create tables to alternative metrics and recommend better strategies for endgame play.

متن کاملGP-EndChess: Using Genetic Programming to Evolve Chess Endgame Players
We apply genetic programming to the evolution of strategies for playing chess endgames. Our evolved programs are able to draw or win against an expert human-based strategy, and draw against CRAFTY—a world-class chess program, which finished second in the 2004 Computer Chess Championship.
متن کاملSearching for Chess
Chess programs have three major components: move generation, search, and evaluation. All components are important, although evaluation with its quiescence analysis is the part which makes each program's play unique. The speed of a chess program is a function of its move generation cost, the complexity of the position under study and the brevity of its evaluation. More important, however, is the...
متن کاملMultilinear Algebra and Chess Endgames
This article has three chief aims: (1) To show the wide utility of multilinear algebraic formalism for high-performance computing. (2) To describe an application of this formalism in the analysis of chess endgames, and results obtained thereby that would have been impossible to compute using earlier techniques, including a win requiring a record 243 moves. (3) To contribute to the study of the ...
متن کاملPlays, Values, Analysis and The Complexity of Chinese Chess
Chinese Chess (Xiangqi) and Backgammon evolved from an ancient Chinese game called Liubo that was invented some 3,500 years ago [10, pp. 3–11]. Like Liubo, Xiangqi consists of one king, five pawns, and several higher order pieces, and the game is decided by capturing the opponent’s king. Unlike in Liubo, the moves of Xiangqi are not determined by the roll of dice. The dice part of the game even...
